You
should not assume that your piano
tuner is a restoration specialist.
So check out his or her credentials
and experience. Whether you have an
upright, upright grand, baby grand,
parlor grand, studio grand or
concert grand piano, the first
question you likely ask yourself is,
is my piano worth restoring? The
answer to that question depends on
several variables. Obviously your
budget is a big factor but other
variables are: the make, model, age
of your piano, your needs and
finally here is a big one, the
expertise and quality of the advice
you are getting. In others words,
who's advice are you relying on?
Many folks make the big mistake of
having their piano refinished
without knowing the condition or
inherent value of their instrument.
My advice is to have a thorough
appraisal and evaluation prior to
sinking any significant amount of
money into your piano. Refinishing
your piano may make it look good,
but it does nothing towards
structural and functional
maintenance?
